Scott Quigg vs Oscar Valdez Live

Scott Quigg vs Oscar Valdez

Quigg is a former WBA world super-bantamweight champion before he lost his title in a split-decision defeat to Carl Frampton in which he broke his jaw after just four rounds.

The Northern Irishman has also moved up to featherweight and has admitted he could offer Quigg a rematch if he beats Valdez – but a defeat would make it hard for the Bury man to make that fight.

But the goal of becoming a two-weight world champion should be more than enough motivation for the 29-year-old – so here’s everything you need to know about the bout.

Featherweight world titleholder Oscar Valdez will make his fourth defense against Scott Quigg in the main event of a card that will air live on ESPN in the United States beginning at 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, from the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

The Valdez vs. Quigg fight broadcast will begin at 10:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. The main card includes Andy Vences vs. Eric DeLeon in a 10-round junior lightweight bout. These fights will also air live on ESPN Deportes and stream live on the ESPN App.

ESPN boxing commentators Joe Tessitore and Mark Kriegel, along with former world titleholder Timothy Bradley Jr. and reporter Bernardo Osuna will call the fight from ringside.

He now takes on undefeated Mexican star Valdez (23-0) who will be making the fourth defence of the gold he won back in July 2016 with a second round stoppage of previously undefeated Matias Rueda. Quigg is the distant underdog with the bookies in this fight, but with trainer Freddie Roach in his corner, he could upset the odds.

Regis Prograis vs. Julius Indongo Live

Regis Prograis vs. Julius Indongo

A week before the full WBC Super Lightweight title is up for grabs between Jose Carlos Ramirez and Amir Imam, the World Boxing Council have opted an interim title to be fought for between Regis Prograis and Julius Indongo.

To lessen the confusion, that simple suggests that Prograis-Indongo is a final eliminator for a belt that is currently vacant.

It is tomorrow night that the pair shall meet in a division that is in need of a new leader, following Terence Crawford’s recent exodus to a money-spinning Welterweight division.

The clash is unlikely to garner the sort of attention that such a 50/50 contest would otherwise deserve.

Former IBF & WBA champion, Indongo is in fact a replacement for another former champion, Viktor Postol. But the switch in opposition has done little to alter how exciting a bout this could be.

Indongo 22-1(11KO’s) was demolished last time out, when he caught the full raft of a Crawford unifying the 140lbs division. It was in round 3 that a body shot took all the air from the Namibian champion.

It was the maiden defeat of Indongo’s accelerated career. At 35-years old, there has been no room for holding back, and he has done nothing of the sort, winning the IBF title in late 2016 with a vicious first round knockout of Eduard Troyanovsky, before adding the WBA title 4 months later. Another 4 months passed before he attempted to add Crawford’s WBC and WBO titles to his resume.

It won’t be easy for the 29-year-old southpaw, who’s won all 20 of his bouts in his six years as a pro. Standing in his way for an interim, 140-pound World Boxing Council belt is Julius Indongo, who won his first 22 fights as a pro before losing over the summer to perhaps the best boxer right now, Terence Crawford.

Prograis and Indongo are set to square off Friday night at the Deadwood Mountain Grand resort in South Dakota. The telecast on the cable channel Showtime, scheduled to include two other fights, begins at 9 p.m.

If Prograis triumphs, it is believed he will become the first New Orleans native to hold a world title belt from one of boxing’s four major sanctioning bodies since Willie Pastrano claimed the light heavyweight crowns from the WBC and the World Boxing Association in 1963.

Arsene Wenger, having criticized his side’s lack of composure at the Emirates, would have been pleased to see his team put the holders to the sword. Cesc Fabregas opened the scoring six minutes from time, before Adebayor made up for his error from the first leg and put the tie to bed in stoppage time. The win was the first ever by an English side at the San Siro, another impressive achievement in what was turning into a promising season for the Gunners.

Valspar Championship 2018

Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, Jordan Spieth, Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, Bill Haas, Ryan Armour and Jason Kokrak are among those in the field at Valspar Championship 2018 this week.

PGA TOUR VALSPAR CHAMPIONSHIP Site: Palm Harbor, Fla. Course: Innisbrook Resort (Copperhead Course). Yardage: 7,340. Par: 71. Purse: $6.5 million. Winner’s share: $1,170,000. Television: Thursday-Friday, 2-6 p.m. (Golf Channel); Saturday-Sunday, 1-3 p.m. (Golf Channel), 3-6 p.m. (NBC Sports). Defending champion: Adam Hadwin. Last week: Phil Mickelson won the Mexico Championship for his third World Golf Championships title.

I’m just now coming down from my Justin Thomas-induced high at the WGC-Mexico Championship last week, and we already have another elite tournament to get to. This week is the Valspar Championship in Tampa, Florida, which is the spring version of the Travelers Championship. It’s a little bit of a buried event (between two WGCs and the Arnold Palmer Invitational), but it’s played on a challenging, fun course and has a tremendous field.

This week’s Valspar Championship boasts one of the deepest fields of the season, thanks to the late additions of Jordan Spieth and Tiger Woods.

Spieth and Woods will play together during the first two rounds this week, along with Henrik Stenson. Woods has drawn massive crowds during his first three events this year, and having Spieth and Stenson by his side will surely add to the hype.

Woods has two top 25s in three starts this year. He has undergone four back surgeries since 2014, and is making his tournament debut at this event this week.

For those excited to watch the Valspar, but don’t want to just see Woods, there are plenty of other intriguing options. Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott and Matt Kuchar are together, while Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy and Gary Woodland make up another interesting group.

Although they have had the upper hand in this match up in previous years, the USWNT are coming off an unremarkable year while England have seemingly gone from strength to strength. England’s performances against France and Germany show just how far they have improved and have started Phil Neville’s reign in a positive fashion. When you consider the above and how unsettled the USWNT have been throughout the tournament, England could do the improbable here and pick up a big win, thus finishing as this year’s champions.

USA: 24-Ashlyn Harris; 4-Becky Sauerbrunn, 8-Julie Johnston, 11-Ali Krieger; 19-Crystal Dunn (12-Lynn Williams, 64), 3-Samantha Mewis (20-Allie Long, 77), 9-Lindsey Horan (6-Morgan Brian, 77), 16-Rose Lavelle, 10-Carli Lloyd (capt.) (17-Tobin Heath, 76); 2-Mallory Pugh, 13-Alex Morgan (23-Christen Press, 63) Subs not used: 1-Alyssa Naeher, 5-Kelley O’Hara, 7-Casey Short, 14-Jessica McDonald, 15-Emily Sonnett, 18-Jane Campbell, 22-Brianna Pinto Head coach: Jill Ellis

ENG: 13-Siobhan Chamberlain; 3-Demi Stokes, 4-Lucy Bronze, 5-Steph Houghton (capt.), 7-Jordan Nobbs (8-Jade Moore, 90+3), 10-Izzy Christiansen (6-Millie Bright, 90+2), 15-Laura Bassett, 17-Fara Williams, 19-Toni Duggan (11-Ellen White, 76), 20-Karen Carney (18-Jill Scott, 63), 22-Nikita Parris (9-Jodie Taylor, 77)

The English team will be a little concerned with the goals they gave up to Germany in the previous game as those are goals that can be prevented with enough concentration. The team will obviously work on that before their match up against the USWNT but if it’s not fixed by the time the first whistle blows tomorrow, they will give the USWNT too many opportunities in front of their goal and there’s only so many chances that the USWNT will fail to put away before they get the job done. Karen Bardsley in goal will have to lead those in front of her and make sure they maintain their concentration for the full 90 minutes if they want to come away with the win.

USA vs France women’s Soccer Live

USA vs France women's Soccer

just about the same manner as 2017 for the US women’s national team as they defeated Germany in a close 1-0 contest. But the tournament is certainly not repeating itself for France, who just got pasted 4-1 by England in their first match. But let’s not forget that France was a) missing big time central defender Wendie Renard, and b) they fielded a lot of very inexperienced young players and it definitely showed.

Plus, France just seemed sluggish, as if they were still six time zones away. A lot depends on whether they were just jetlagged and inexperienced, or if something was truly off in the locker room to cause the players to give up. The United States will most certainly bring much stiffer competition than England, and with how they managed to execute their high press against Germany in the worst possible conditions, at Red Bull Arena in calmer weather they could end up really punishing a sluggish response.

It really seems to be all about the midfield right now for Jill Ellis. She’s trying to configure her 4-3-3 into something that allows for a bit of fluidity. Against Germany, it seemed like she has hanging a lot of responsibility on Lindsey Horan, who kind of managed to pass the test. It wasn’t an A, more like almost a solid B, but she did technically pass, and so perhaps Ellis will once again see if she can help keep up the midfield tempo. Julie Ertz might be on call here too; she dropped a lot against Germany to help reinforce the center backs, but against France, she might have more opportunity to push the whole midfield higher.

Eugénie Le Sommer tried to drag France to some kind of response against England and if her teammates can get in the right headspace, she’ll be much freer to surgically poke at the US back line. This wily striker has a smooth confidence on the ball and is capable of being both provider and one-time finisher. We may also see head coach Corinne Diacre bring back France’s usual starting goalkeeper, Sarah Bouhaddi, in place of the much-besieged Karima Benameur. With Benameur often let down by her slapdash defense, Bouhaddi could be Diacre’s attempt to give them a more solid backstop, although Bouhaddi is a player to watch sometimes for all the wrong reasons. She’s capable of big time saves, but just as often is capable of big time howlers.

Manchester City can tighten their grip on the Premier League title by beating last season’s champions Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

City are 16 points clear at the top after beating Arsenal 3-0 away on Thursday. The Carabao Cup winners are playing an irresistible brand of free-flowing football, but they will still be wary of Chelsea.

It was Chelsea who won comfortably at the Etihad last season, besting the Citizens 3-1 back in December 2016 to add momentum to the former’s title bid. The Blues proved lethal on the break and still have the players to cause the champions elect problems.

Chelsea are coming off of a full week’s rest after losing to Manchester United and igniting yet another CRISIS. Manchester City are not-so-fresh (we hope) from a double drubbing of Arsenal, on Sunday, in the Carabao Cup final and then again on Thursday in the Premier League, scoring three without conceding in both matches.

They have a 16-point lead on everyone else, they’re strolling to the title and Pep Guardiola says they need to improve.

First-place Manchester City gets a visit from fifth-place Chelsea on Sunday in the Premier League, with the visitors in need of a win to stay within striking distance of Champions League qualification.

This could get ugly. Or it could be glorious. After the frustrations of the Barcelona draw and the Manchester United loss, can Chelsea clinch a famous victory?

Date / Time: Sunday, March 4, 2018, 16:00 GMT; 11:00am EST; 9:30pm IST

Venue: Etihad Stadium, Manchester, England

Referee: Michael Oliver — we last saw him in the EFL quarter-final loss to Arsenal in January. Before that he handled our 0-0 draw with Arsenal in September and our 1-1 draw with Liverpool in November. Two draws an omen?

Forecast: Storm Emma is forecast to blow itself out and by kickoff the weather should be a chilly 4°C (39°F) with a 23% chance of rain. Expect gloves and snoods.
